Laura Edgerton has practiced immigration law for almost fifteen years. She brings a high level of corporate immigration experience to the firm along with a strong commitment to ethics and the desire and ability to help her clients achieve their goals. Laura is well-known in the business, legal and immigration communities for her ability to solve complex problems involving the employment of international personnel in the U.S., as well as her persistence and creativity in finding workable solutions for her clients.

Laura is frequently invited to speak at national immigration conferences on such topics as permanent residence, H-1B and training visas, and employment verification/I-9 issues. She has authored/edited numerous immigration articles in leading publications and has been interviewed extensively in the business and local press on immigration issues. She is the immediate past Chair of the Carolinas Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and a former member of AILA’s Board of Governors. She is currently the Vice Chair of the Ethics and Practice Management Committee for AILA National and previously served as the National Chair of AILA's Young Lawyers Division.

Following a federal judicial clerkship, Laura started her career with Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, PLLC, in Winston-Salem, before joining Maupin Taylor, PA (now Williams Mullen), in Raleigh, North Carolina, in 1996, to develop and manage the firm’s immigration practice. She joined our firm in 2006. Laura is a magna cum laude graduate of North Carolina State University and a cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law.

Laura was selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America 2008 in the area of immigration law.
